Some River, Miles of Fields to the Horizon

Post for June 5, 2021

In the morning, I followed a quiet and shaded road by the Mississippi River, a great way to start the day. In the afternoon, I cycled through some of the flattest and longest fields I’ve seen, which often went to the horizon. Those fields offered few places to stop in the shade and rest. I drank a lot of water to stay hydrated even when the water in my bottles was hot from the sun. In this kind of cycling, I keep telling myself that it’s better than mowing the lawn, at least for me.

The song for today shows some of the monotony of cycling through flat fields for hours.
