Cycling into a Slower Style

Post for 19 June 2021

The day started with some final memories from the TransAm. I crossed the Ohio River on the same ferry my cycling group used in 2018. But this time, I crossed the opposite direction, into Kentucky instead of out.

Crossing a river felt symbolic. Pardon me for being a bit poetic, but it feels right at the moment. Crossing a river, over something so fluid, from one side to another, reminds me of the phrase, “Every new beginning is some other beginning’s end.” After crossing the river, I left the Trans Am and cycled west in Kentucky. The landscape and day felt different. It felt slower.

The song for today suits the feeling for the day. It’s another of my favourites, Wake Me Up When September Ends.
