Nice Pictures and Priest

Like yesterday, pictures tell the story better than I can write it, except for the beginning and end.

At the beginning of the day, I enjoyed another conversation with my new friend, Mike.

Mike and I in the sunroom he built

He let me stay at his place last night, made a tasty pasta supper with lots of veggies, and did some laundry for me. This morning, he had breakfast waiting and drove me to a grocery store. I just met Mike, and he did all of this, for free I should add.

This evening, I was going to camp in Aitkin but was concerned about the unusually cold temperatures that night, around freezing. I bought some hand-warmers to stuff in my sleeping bag if, or when, the cold woke me up.

But while I cycled through Aitkin, I remembered something from 2018 when I cycled from Virginia to Oregon. On that ride, I cycled with a group, and we stayed in a lot of churches. I decided to stop by a church in Aitkin, St. James Church, and ask if I could stay the night. The office staff called the priest, and after a short while, they told me I could spend the night.

So now, I’m writing this from the warmth of a nice church, which I have to myself.

Here are the pictures from today.

  1. Despite what’s been going on in country, this just goes to show you that there are many good people out there. Stay safe, Reno! And please keep posting more stories and photos. This is fun! 🙂

    • Thanks Karl. I’ve been cycling on bike tours for 10 years now. I’m always amazed at the generosity of strangers. No news sources report that enough.
