The best part of this trip has been the surprises, often very intense surprises. In Idaho, White Bird Pass was one of the best, according to almost everyone in our group. It started up a long country road, but at the top, we could see desert hills for miles. And even better, there was a fast downhill with about 15 sharp switchbacks. The video below shows some of them.
Here are some photos leading up to the pass and some of the top of it.
This trip has shown how the things we never expect in life are often the best. All you need to do is get out and enjoy this wonderful world.
Fantastic! Do you have a plan for how far you’re cycling each day or just a rough outline and see how the day goes?
Steve-a-reno! Where are you? This says posted 8/01 and you’re in Idaho. I’m near Portland, Oregon still. Heading home to Minnesota this Saturday for a few days, but hoping somehow I can meet you while you’re cycling through my new stomping grounds sometime next week. Just learned of your situation today….. Take care.
Steve,
Is there any way I can meet up with you while you’re in Oregon?
