We crossed the Mississippi River today. That river is part of my favorite bike routes in Minnesota, so it felt like I was seeing an old friend. Even better, I was crossing it with some special new friends.
The day started in the town where Popeye was created, in Chester, Illinois. That led to some fun pictures by a Popeye statue. The woman standing by Popeye is Marie. Her strength impresses me more than most because she’s the woman who broke a small bone in her arm at the start of the trip. If you look close, you can see her cast.
After we cross the Mississippi, the land was unusually flat, but soon after, we were going up and down hills again.
Tonight, we’re staying in a very cosy hostel for cyclists.
