Wish my commute didn’t end

I commute to work on my bike. The worst part of my commute is that it has to end.

A few months ago, I changed careers to computer programming. When I was looking for work, I tried hard to find a place that would give a nice bike-ride to work. I even turned down an interview at a place that didn’t have a good bike route. It took a while to find the right job, but now, I sincerely appreciate it every morning and night, even with a bit of rain, snow, or cold.

It reminds me a lot of bike touring, for 100s or 1,000s of miles. There is no bad weather, only bad gear. I will stop if the weather gets unsafe, but honestly, that doesn’t happen often. The simple yet spectacular sights far outnumber any uncomfortable moments.

  1. By the subject line, I thought you were going to have to stop your bicycle commute all together. But now I understand that you only wish you didn’t arrive at work. 🙂 Anyway, that was a fun read, and the photos were fantastic! Thanks for sharing. I hope you can continue the two-wheeled commute for many weeks to come. But one never knows how quickly that can end with good old Minnesota weather. Stay safe!

    • Good to hear from you Karl, as always. I’m glad my slightly-criptic heading eventually made sense. I mentioned the same phrase to my manager a few weeks ago when we were taking the elevator up in the morning. He liked it but added, “I’m not sure I can take that much cheerfulness before coffee.” I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures as well, but I’m hoping you’re a little off that the winter will pause my commuting. Last year, I was able to commute until the temperature reached single digits because I couldn’t keep my feet warm. This year, I bought a better pair of boots.
